VisionChina's IPO in Nasdaq

VisionChina's IPO in NasdaqOn December 7, 2007, Li Limin, the CEO of the VisionChina (Nasdaq: VISN) sounded the Nasdaq closing bell to celebrate the success of the company completed the initial public offering (IPO) in Nasdaq.

VisionChina founded in April 2005, operates the largest out-of-home advertising networks in China and even in the world. As of August, 2008, the company's extensive networks have had 17 cities trough exclusive agency or direct investment model, 9 cities through outreach agency model, consisting of over 110,000 digital TV displays. The networks deliver TV programs to 90,000,000 people each day and cover 300,000,000 people, using mobile digital television technology and supporting mobile receiving. The company uses the public buses, subways and light rails as the chief terminal platform, broadcasting the real-time news, stock quotes, weather, traffic updates, sports highlights and entertainment programs by the local TV station. The company brings the TV out-of-home, and makes it a reality for watching TV anywhere at any time.

China Decided to Resume Domestic Insurance Business

PICCApproved by the Council of the State, People's Insurance Company of China began to restore the domestic insurance business from 1980. Before that, the domestic insurance business had suspended for 20 years.

The meeting decided that Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai City could gradually carried out it in 1980; the provinces and autonomous regions should choice 3~5 pilot cities.

The meeting also summed up the experience for foreign insurance business. According to foreign trade and foreign economic relations in the new situation, demanding to further improve service quality.

Splendid China Opened in Shenzhen

Splendid ChinaSplendid China opened in Shenzhen on November 22, 1989. Splendid China is a comprehensive miniature park reflecting the history, culture, art, ancient architecture, and customs and habits of various nationalities in China. It is one of the world's largest scenery parks in the amount of scenarios reproduced. The park is developed and managed by the major travel and tourist corporation, China Travel Services.

Splendid China is situated by the Shenzhen Bay in a tourist area of Oversea Chinese Town (OCT) in Shenzhen, Special Economic Zone of China. It is a 35-40 minute train ride from Lo Wu metro station (Line 1 of Shenzhen Metro), or 30 minutes by bus (bus number 101 or mini-bus 23 are two examples).

Over 100 major tourist attractions have been miniaturized and laid out according to the map of China. Most attractions have been reduced on a scale of 1:15. It is divided into Scenic Spot Area and Comprehensive Service Area. The entire park covers 30 hectares.

There are cars and trains to transport visitors around the park, making it possible to visit the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, Temple of heaven, Three Gorges Dam, Potala Palace and the Terracotta Army in one day.

The park also hosts several shows depicting various events in Chinese History (e.g. a horse riding show depicting a battle led by Genghis Khan), Chinese Cultural Show, etc. Some of the shows are only performed on weekends.

Airmedia Financing $180 Million in Nasdaq

Airmedia Finance in NasdaqOn November 12, 2007, Airmedia Group Inc. went public in Nasdaq. Guo Man, the CEO of Airmedia Group Inc. sounded the Nasdaq closing bell to celebrate financing 180 million US dollars.

Airmedia operate the largest digital media network in China dedicated to air travel advertising. The comapny operates over 95% of the digital TV screens that display advertisements in the 15 largest airports in China, according to an August 2007 report of Sinomonitor. The advertising portion of its programs currently accounts for over 80% of the total length of the advertisements played on the digital TV screens for each of the three largest airlines in China. Airmedia operate over 2,000 digital TV screens in airports, and place its programs on over 16,000 digital TV screens on airplanes.

President of ZJS Express Resign

Ping ChenAfter the failure of the listing plan, the ZJS Express trys to lay off through the winter. Yesterday, reporters learned that Ping Chen will resign from prisident of ZJS Express, his brother Xianbao Chen will take over the position.

According to informed sources, due to the shrinking market, ZJS Express accumulated losses of nearly billion RMB. Ping Chen's prestige in company reduced dramatically. Chen is likely to leave at the end of this month.

ZJS was founded on 18th Jan 1994. Its log was stemmed from the imagination of Pin Chen, who is the chief officer of ZJS. The monkey is a symbol of Sun Wukong, a mythical person who can move a great distance by only one fall; carrying a parcel represents small package express; the circle means service between door to door; the green symbolizes life and the forever passion of ZJS.

At the end of 2006, ZJS' total asset reaches 500 million RMB; the number of its employee is 10,000 and it has more than 1800 transportation vehicles. The annual turnover is 70 million with more than 45% increase annually. It has 480 branches.

Since then, there always has been news about its listing. In September of this year, the official said ZJS gave up the listing plan.

Earlier this month, ZJS started the "optimization of layoffs". There are more than 5,000 employees will be fired.

The professionals said the private express enterprises didn't have the advantage of capital as foreign competitors. And being impacted by the inflation, global investment reduction, even if ZJS Express has such problems, and that the whole epress industry will also cause for concern.
