On Friday, the world's fourth largest PC manufacturer Lenovo announced as a part of the world's layoffs, the global headquarters which is located in Morrisville, North Carolina will lay off about 50 employees.
Ray Gorman, the spokesman of Lenovo said the job cuts is a part of company global restructuring plan, job cuts will be carried out from now on to the end of this year. The headquarters of Lenovo in Morrisville has about 1,680 employees, but Goldman said Lenovo is building the third integrated office building in this region and is expected to be put into use before the end of the year.
As for the number of job cuts in the other regions of the world, Goldman declined to provide specific figures. He said that Lenovo is already implementing some reorganization plan, which is entirely due to the current situation of economy. Layoffs will be carried out in some specific area.
Earlier, the Gartner has just released the 3th quarter of the global PC shipments report. Despite the PC shipments growing, but its market share fell to 7.8 percent from 7.3 percent. In April 2007, Lenovo had a global scale layoff 1,400.
